Modeling

When I was in high school I got to do some modeling. It was so amazing getting to work with such talented photographers and model for them. I also had the opportunity to be in a handful of fashion shows in Denver.

My very first fashion show I was in, I had just turned 15 a few weeks before. I WAS FREAKING OUT. If you know me personally, you know I'm like a little kid with candy when it comes to anything fashion or hair and makeup related. So to say that I was shaking with excitement is quite an understatement.

I owe it all to my mom who made that first fashion show happen because she knew the designer who was putting on the show. I remember our fitting was actually at Water World. Lol. I was so scared, you guys. Little shy 15 year old Mandy entering this room of all these tall gorgeous women. I was SO intimidated.

We had our hair and makeup done at this amazing Aveda salon in downtown Denver (which started my love for Aveda and planted my dream of going there). The show was called Creatures of Couture since Halloween was right around the corner and I was done up to look like a vampire. It was such a fun experience getting to be a part of all of this and see all the magic that happens with fashion shows. Here are some photos from that specific fashion show:

We went to the venue after getting hair and makeup done and I was SO nervous. All of my family and friends were there to cheer me on, it seriously felt like a dream. I'll never forget that night.

I got to work with Amanda, who is an amazing designer, quite a few more times. Each time it was something different and so fun. Some of the photos below I am modeling for her or another designer, Meghan, from Rakun.

I have so many awesome memories from these shows and photo shoots. I love that I can stay in touch with a lot of the amazing people I met then on Facebook or Instagram. Weren't those pieces they did so beautiful?! And all of those women in the photos were so much fun to do them with.

Here's some photos from one of my most favorite shoots I got to do:

I hand painted these shorts that I got from a thrift store specifically for this shoot

I was so lucky and that I got to do this photo shoot with a family friend who owns a company called DreamBIG Entertainment LLC. Dewey travels all over with the amazing A-7 Corsair II. He lets people dress up as fighter pilots and take photos with it. It was so much fun. You can even take a tour of the fully restored cockpit. You can check him out here and see all that they do over at DreamBig: https://www.facebook.com/DreamBIG-Entertainment-LLC-133476296737171/

Katie (The Roaring Artist) is so amazing. I met her through Amanda when I modeled for her and she does incredible work. Aren't these photos just beautiful?! We went to an open area, wrapped a sheet around me and she did her magic. The outcome is so incredible. I think one of the coolest things about photography is when a photographer has an image in their head and they make it come to life.

Okay, below are just *some* of the photos from photo shoots I've modeled for. If you are ever in need of photos, I will link all of their pages at the end of this post so you can check them out. I would highly recommend all of these photographers to anyone needing a photographer. Their work speaks for itself though, just take a peak:

I'm no professional model and it's not like I had a modeling career, but I'm so thankful for the amazing experiences I had and all of the fun photo shoots and fashion shows I got to enjoy. Modeling actually helped me find my love for hair and makeup and led me to going to school at Aveda. Almost all of the shows/shoots I was part of, I did my own hair and makeup. So that was really awesome for me to practice my skills and grow as an artist. Now I have some amazing photos from all these years to showcase my work.

If you ever get the opportunity to model for someone, do it! Seriously. Even if it takes you out of your comfort zone. It's good and fun to try something new and different. I think that's why I enjoyed modeling so much, because you get to experience so many new things, meet new people and have so much fun while doing it.

And I just want to give all of you photographers out there a big THANK YOU. You all work so hard and push yourselves so much. I was blown away over and over by how much work is put in to make those beautiful images happen.

I'm going to link all of the pages to these amazing photographers below so you can check out their work. If you need family photos, head shots, product photos, etc. and want a recommendation then shoot me a message or leave a comment. I'd be more than happy to send some crazy talented people your way!

Xoxo,

Mandy

How to Become an Influencer + Collab with Companies

If you want to become an influencer and start collaborating with companies, keep reading! I share my journey as an influencer so far and all that I've learned. Hopefully this can help you get started :)
I'm going to apologize in advance if this is all over the place. Hahaha. Blogging while your needy sick toddlers are around isn't the easiest and I've thought of a million different things I want to talk about as I've been writing, so this may seem a bit scatterbrained. Lol. But hopefully this can help some of y'all that have wanted to start doing this! I enjoy being honest with you guys and hope that you all know how thankful I am for every one of you that I have connected with online!

If you've been following me on Instagram for awhile, you'll know that I haven't been doing this for a long time. In fact, my first collaboration wasn't even until around April of this year, so I've only been doing this for around 9 months. I'm still very …

Bloomlife Pregnancy Tracker + Contraction Monitor Review

I can't believe that as of today I am 34 weeks pregnant. This pregnancy has flown by and we are so close to meeting our third son! I've had the opportunity to try a product recently that has been incredible and I'm so excited to share about it with you guys. I'll be sharing about the Bloomlife contraction monitor in this post and sharing my honest review.

Most of you know this is my third pregnancy. Now, I'm no expert at motherhood and pregnancy, but I do have some experience since this is my third time around. With my first two sons, I never felt any Braxton Hicks. Braxton Hicks are contractions that occur before real labor. They are normal to experience and they are not a sign that you're about to give birth. I like to think of them as the bodies way of preparing for labor. They can start fairly early in your pregnancy and you might not even know that you're experiencing them.  (A good thing to remember about Braxton Hicks and real labor contractions is …

Instagram Tips + Tricks

So you want to increase your engagement on your posts? Perhaps you have a small business and you feel like your posts aren't getting seen? Or maybe you're a mom like me trying to do this whole influencer thing and want your engagement to be better? I'm sharing some tips and tricks that I've learned along the way to help you out and teach you how to best use Instagram.

It would be nice if Instagram weren't all about numbers, but let's not kid ourselves. It is. Most people want to reach the 10k mark so they have the swipe up feature for their followers. And a lot of companies tend to reach out to accounts with large followings. It makes sense, it's business. But don't let it get you down. I myself have 5k followers and I'm not letting that keep me from trying to grow my page and get out there.

So, let's talk engagement real quick. If you don't know what engagement means, I'll break it down for you. A lot of companies that work with influe…
